Types of containers
available for purchase:
Typically the 8×20’ and 8×40’ containers are the most common, so usually easier to find and less expensive!
8x40’ Containers
- 8x40’ used wind and water tight – high cube
- 8x40’ used cargo worthy – high cube
- 8x40’ one trip / new – standard height
- 8x40’ one trip / new – high cube
- 8x40’ container offices (new build)
Are containers lockable and secure? Are they rodent proof?
Containers are built with heavy duty 12 to 14 gauge steel with bar locking systems, so security for your items is not an issue! The doors on storage containers seal up nice and tight with the locking door handles. The rubber gaskets on the doors allow for a watertight seal, and they are rodent proof. Just grab a lock and your good to go!
Container sizes available for purchase:
The most common container sizes are the 8’W x 20’L, and the 8 W’ x 40L’ containers. However, other sizes such as 8’x10’, 8’x45’, or 8x53’ may also be available, depending on current yard inventory(s). Often the larger containers (such as the 40’ers) can also come in the “high cube” models, which are 1 foot taller in size, and allow for more access and greater storage capacity.
Delivery of purchased containers:
Containers are usually delivered with a 40’ roll-off container trailer. Smaller roll-back trucks can also be used for the 20’ containers, depending on what is available in your area. Please contact us for delivery and pickup prices. There is usually a minimum fee for the more local delivery. And long distance deliveries typically average around $5.10 per loaded mile.
There is typically both a delivery fee, and a pickup fee involved in obtaining a rental container. Please ask the sales rep for pricing. Those fees’ are usually calculated by mileage, and how difficult the drop and pickup will be for your site.
Space required: A straight line of 65’ to drop a 20’ container if using a smaller roll-off truck.
Space required: A straight line of 125’ to drop a 40’ container if using a 40’ container trailer.
(Also would need enough space for the delivery truck to pull on and off the property).
Should I rent (or) purchase my storage containers:
If you think you might be looking at using the container for a short time period, then ask yourself if it would be better to rent or perhaps the rent to own program. The rent to own programs allows you the option to return the container at only the cost of the monthly rental plus the pickup fee. Note: We would be happy to quote the various purchasing, or rent to own options, to see what works best for you financially.
Conditions of the Containers
Used Containers – Wind and Water Tight: Containers that are coming into the ports / depots with freight in them. They don’t leak, doors work ok, but sometimes a little grease on the hinges is good. These ocean containers will have have dings and rust on them, varies by the batch.
Used Containers – Cargo Worthy: Containers that are coming into the ports/depots with freight in them. They don’t leak, doors is better overall condition. But still have dings and some rust on them.
New / One Trip – These containers are typically manufactured in China and come into the US with freight in them. That’s why they are called “one trippers”. These conex boxes get off-loaded at the suppliers location, where we purchase them out of the depots or rail-yards. These are the preferred containers. Very little or no dings, or rust. Typically less than 6 months old. Very attractive and very nice quality!
Naturally the used containers are less money when purchasing. But if you are looking for cleaner, newer boxes then the one trip (new) container are the way to go.
